October at the Estate
The month we keep for ourselves
Ask anyone who lives here and they'll tell you the same thing. October is the best month in Montepulciano, and almost nobody knows it.The vendemmia is behind us, so the cellar is full and working. The olive harvest begins. The vineyards below the villa shift from green to copper and gold, and by the middle of the month the whole amphitheatre looks like it's been lit from inside. Mornings are cool enough for a jumper. Afternoons are still warm enough to eat outside.And the roads are quiet. The tour buses have gone home.Six suites. That's all we have. We'd rather you had the place to yourself.
